PORTLAND, ORE. – April 14, 2008 – Freightliner Trucks is proud to announce its winning customers from the eighth annual Paul K. Young Memorial Truck Beauty Show conducted at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) March 27-29, 2008.
Major overall winners of the Pride & Polish event include Robert and Shelley Brinker, of Grayling, Mich., who won Best of Show Working Bobtail with “Black Pearl,” their 2000 Freightliner® Classic XL™ with a mural depicting scenes from the film, “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
The Brinkers also took first-place awards for Interior OEM Sleeper; Mobil Delvac Working Truck Engine; Bobtail 2000 and Older; and Custom Paint with Graphics or Murals, Bobtail.
Michael Most of Phoenix, Ariz., took home the People’s Choice Best Working Bobtail Award with his yellow 1998 Freightliner Classic XL named “Heroes & Legends.” The back of the truck is in memory of Sept. 11, depicting firefighters raising the American flag in front of the World Trade Center, flanked by the New York City police and firefighter shields. Keeping with the heroes theme, the Army, Navy and Marine Corps are drawn as M&M characters on the left side of his truck.
Most, who also placed second for Custom Paint & Graphics Mural – Bobtail and second for Bobtail 2000 and Older, also received top honors in the Freightliner Run Smart™ Awards. His prizes included a Diecast model of the Freightliner Trucks NASCAR Run Smart Car and two tickets to a NASCAR race of his choice.
Additional Run Smart Award winners include:
Second Place – Diecast model of the Freightliner Trucks NASCAR Run Smart car: Tom and Maryann Quick, of Griffin, Ga., took second place with their 2007 Freightliner® Coronado®.
Third Place – Diecast model of the Freightliner Trucks NASCAR Run Smart car: Leonard Martin of San Antonio, Texas, won third place with his 2007 Coronado.
Other Freightliner winners in Pride & Polish included:- The Quicks also won first place, “New Venture Award” in the Bobtail, New Truck – Under 75,000 miles category; third place in the Interior Custom Aftermarket Sleeper category; and third place for Lights Bobtail.
- Lowell Wilderman of Schneider International took third place in the Bobtail Company Truck category with his 2007 Freightliner® Cascadia™.
- Lynn and Shelly Baxter, of A&E Mann Trucking, of Atlantic Beach, Fla., won first place in the Bobtail 2001-2006 category with their 2006 Freightliner® Business Class® M2™ 112. The Baxters also were awarded second place in Lights Bobtail.
- Edward Bosket of Lake City, Fla., received a second-place award for Bobtail 2007 and Newer with his 2007 Coronado.
