In It for the Long Haul

Uptime is king, so we built the Coronado® Severe Duty to be pushed to places you didn’t think a truck could go. And then come back and do it again tomorrow. We know that your average truck can’t take the kind of abuse that vocational drivers throw at their trucks, so we designed the Coronado Severe Duty from the gravel up as a tough-as-nails workhorse.

We Thought of Every Detail

With a backbone of solid engineering, the Coronado Severe Duty can handle whatever you throw at it. Whether it’s the different frame and wheelbase configurations or our fuel tanks designed to give excellent ground clearance, the truck is built to take on anything.

Henrob rivets pierce only one layer of metal, keeping moisture where it belongs: outside the cab.

  • The aluminum cab is non-corrosive and lightweight.
  • Coach Joints where the cab roof meets the sidewalls protect against costly water damage.
  • Henrob Rivets, used throughout the cab, are designed to keep water out.
  • State-of-the-art adhesives, used to bond the cab’s substructure, help to distribute weight and decrease fatigue.
  • Windshields are bonded to increase rigidity, and their 2-piece design makes them easier to replace when damaged.
  • The hood’s chrome-plated aluminum handle is built to last, and extensive wind tunnel testing means it’s designed to enhance over-hood wind flow.
  • Steel grille opening reinforcements to provide extra strength are standard.
  • Even the HVAC unit is designed to thrive in harsh environments. How? With easy access under the dash, repair is a breeze.

No More Crossed Wires

Every square inch of the Coronado Severe Duty was built to withstand a constant barrage of punishment. We redesigned the electronics and wiring systems to maximize the working life of the truck. The electrical connections come out of the front wall of the cab in two distinct 76-pin connectors to simplify wiring and reduce diagnostic and wear costs. Also, the redesigned connectors offer excellent seals to keep out moisture, making fewer electrical failures resulting from water penetration.

To keep everything humming smoothly, we had to build one of the best electrical harnesses in the industry. In an attempt to keep everything small, we designed the most effective and long lasting electrical systems in a truck today. The wires are laid out to reduce rubbing and are routed to form a close, but efficient, circuit.

Pierce the Darkness

The Headlight Bucket is supported from below by steel brackets to provide strength and durability for vocational applications, and to minimize headlight vibration. The headlight assembly is made from strong composite material and incorporates a single reflector. It offers excellent lighting capability, particularly over older sealed beam designs. A single, readily available H13 bulb is used for both the low and high beam.
